Paint Ponder: Sherwin Williams 2013 Forecast

Last week I attended Sherwin-William’s annual 2013 Colormix Forecast at Robert Allen Showroom in the Dallas Design District.  It’s always fun to see what trends from movies, fashion, artists and technology influence the color palettes of the future.  This year Sherwin featured four color groupings that “reflect our diverse mindsets, lifestyles and design philosophies”.  They include:  Midnight MysteryHoned VitalityVintage Moxie and High Voltage.

My favorite was Midnight Mystery which focuses on “exploring its murky depths and shadows”.  I just like it because the colors are a bit moody, yet warm and very interesting.  They bring a comforting, yet mysterious feel of the past invoking such images as Sherlock Holmes and the Prohibition era.  Think dark blues, camels and grays.

Whether we realized it or now, we are actually installing a masculine client office that captures this palette well.  Dark blue walls will set off some very cool original Milo Baughman chairs that we found at a Mid2Mod in Big D (stay tuned for more details).  Here is some inspiration we launched from:

{1} High gloss blue walls capture the attention  {2} SW3161 Chamois from the Midnight Mystery palette  {3} Office inspiration from April’s Paper City  {4} Chrome and wood accents work well with the palette
