I was recently working with a real estate agent who was evaluating a home for the market. He added in several thousands for granite countertops, stainless steel appliances and then mentioned adding markup for the staircase being “upgraded to iron”. While I love a great iron staircase, it doesn’t work in every home. I many cases I don’t think it works at all. Some of the best classic homes use wood baulsters and look absolutely fabulous.
Here is some of the inspiration photos we are using for a client’s new home. They want a classic New England style home with a grand entrance. Despite the fact the builder usually puts in iron staircases, such a material wouldn’t work in this style of home.
Classic and fresh. I love it.
