Friday Happy Hour: Gray & Brass in the Kitchen

We all know gray and brass have been on trend, but how about mixing them together seamlessly?  Take a look at this beautiful blue-gray kitchen featured in Traditional Home.   Gray stain mutes down the elegant cabinets, while the brass shines like jewelry as an accent.  Very well done.

Friday Happy Hour: Classic Bars

Friday Happy Hour has always been a fun occasion for me.  Great times catching up with friends over a drink.  It becomes even more special when it takes place in a classy, well design bar that makes you feel like you’ve stepped on a movie set. “You’ve got to be someone who pays attention to the details, ” reports Ralph Lauren of his Polo Bar in Manhattan.   Here are some great ones….

Friday Happy Hour: Aspen

This weekend I will be toasting the birthdays of two great friends who are celebrating their 50th in Aspen.  We will be hiking, biking and having happy hour, of course.  The couple has a second home there, and while I don’t have any photos, I envision something amazing like this home featured in Architectural Digest….

Friday Happy Hour: July 4th

I hope you are enjoying a long July 4th weekend and it’s been filled with great fun!   Have you picked up any great things to help celebrate?  Here are a few things that caught my eye…

Friday Happy Hour: Low country home

Have you seen Traditional Home’s June’s edition?  I adore this feature low country home in South Carolina.  It has great attention to architectural detail (love the trim work and the beautiful windows), a lovely soft but sophisticated color palette and a classic, but casual set of furnishings.  Love.

Friday Happy Hour: Pretty Pink Bathroom

Most of the master bathrooms I create have to work for both the husband and the wife.  But what if you had your own?  And you could do whatever you wanted, including a little bit of glam and some pink?  I absolutely adore this Atlanta Symphony Showhouse bath created by designers Matthew Quinn and Clay Snider.  I could get ready in here for hours…

Friday Happy Hour: Gravel Driveway

There is something so tranquil about a gravel driveway.  I wish I could put one in myself, but it’s just not a possibility here in the city.  However, I absolutely adore them.  They create a distinctive entry to your property and provide the perfect classic setting to your home.  The “bee hive” technology keeps the gravel in place it fairly easy and the cost is so much lower than you would think….

Friday Happy Hour: Kips Bay Decorator Show House

You know I’m a huge fan of Decorator Show Homes.  I travel to this one in San Fran every year and take part in plenty in Big D.  However, I only occasionally get to the Kips Bay Decorator Show House in New York.  This is an ultra fab one, with some of the top designers in the world.  This year is no exception.  If you can still attend, it’s located at the circa-1909 Arthur Sacks Mansion at 58 East 66th Street and runs through June 11.  But if you are feeling left out like I am, check out this book 40 Years of Fabulous and the superb writeup on 1st dibs….
