Paint Ponder: Classic Gray

You know it must be a classic when its named after one.  Classic Gray #1548 by Benjamin Moore is a great neutral for those of you exploring the gray trend.  It’s light, risk averse and plays well with other colors.  Works great with blue.  Try it in that new marble bathroom or kitchen your planning for…

On the Job with C: Bath Remodel Selections

CMI is off and running with a new bathroom install in the park cities.  We are going for a classic look with polished nickel fixtures, white vanities and a marble mosaic on the floor.  Here’s a sneak peak of some of the fixtures we have selected for the space.  Stay tuned!

On the Job with C: Bathroom Tile Border

Tile can make a real statement if done correctly.  I always believe that classic is always best, and encourage my clients not to overdo it or to become too trendy.  With my latest client, we are considering a combination of neutral marble and tile that’s subtle but beautiful.  This particular bath was perfect for introducing a tile border.  Assuming you have some space to work with and there are not a ton of corners to assess, tile borders are a real crowd pleaser.  I usually allow for some breathing space around the perimeter of the room, followed by a nice small border about 3-6″ within that, followed by smaller tile in the center.

Friday Happy Hour: The Train Rack

When working with bathrooms that need storage,  I love considering a train rack.  It’s a classic piece that allows for towel storage while still functioning as a towel rack.  Restoration Hardware has some great options, but you can find some at Pottery Barn and other sources too. You can choose from bars or hooks, whatever fits you best.   Here is some inspiration to get you thinking….

Friday Happy Hour: The Wastebasket

So much time is spent on selecting wall color, major pieces of furniture and lighting.  Yet sometimes we forget those little things that can make a room sing.  How about the trash can in your bathroom?  Kick the old plastic container to the curb and try out some of these for more class:

On the Job with C: Cafe Curtains

A few weeks ago I was working with a client on her bathroom.  The space was already fairly dark due a southern exposure, however she really wanted some light to come through without having to give up privacy.  What else is there beyond plantation shutters or blinds? she asked. We decided to go with cafe curtains.  They allow for the light to come in through the top of the window, while still allowing for privacy at the bottom where necessary.  Plus, depending on the fabric selected, they allow for some light to filter in as well.  Here are a few options to ponder:

Friday Happy Hour: Scalamandre Zebra

Every now and then, we see an iconic wallpaper pattern that never fails to impress.  We start using it again and suddenly it pops up in new designs and products.  Scalamandre Zebra is just that.  It comes in several colorways including:  Masai Red, Zanzibar Gold, Serengeti Green, Safari Brown, Black, Yellow, Periwinkle, Denim, Orange, Silver and Gold.   Thanks to a new line from Eastern Accents and Lenox, we can now purchase pillows, scarves, umbrellas, glassware, plates, decanters and more.  So don’t let your zebra stop at the wallpaper and be sure to check out my INSPIRE post for Dwell with Dignity if you can’t get enough.

Friday Happy Hour: Barbara Barry Simple Scallop Chandelier

We just purchased this Barbara Barry Simple Scallop Chandelier from by Visual Comfort.  I’m a huge fan of Barry as a designer and I truly love her lighting line.  Soft beautiful curves that bring a touch of class to any room.  The chandelier also come in a pendant and lamp version.  Here’s some great images of how it’s been used:
