While I absolutely love, adore and cherish design work, the time has come for me to take a break. It’s bittersweet, but in the end I know my time for now is best spent with my family, friends and the non-profits I serve. I will still provide my best creative juices for my close friends and promise to remain dedicated to those special clients. Unfortunately my blog, along with my usual “extra” clients, will have to be placed on the shelf for now. As Lena Horne stated, “It’s not the load that breaks you down, it’s the way you carry it”. Best.

Paint Ponder: Mocha Creme
This soft brown-gray might be the best neutral for those want the perfect sandy color. Benjamin Moore’s Mocha Creme works greats with chocolate brown (try incense stick 2115-20), soft blue (try beacon gray 2128-60) and even green. Give it a roll as your next greige….
Friday Happy Hour: Tobi Fairley
While the summer was over long ago, I could live with the soft blue colors that remind me of the season all year round. Designer Tobi Fairley did an amazing job with this palette in an old At Home in Arkansas magazine I recently picked up. It’s still a fresh and clean combination, perfect for a beach house or that year round room you want to relax in….

Paint Ponder: Wythe Blue
Benjamin Moore’s historical hue Wythe Blue HC-143, was their color of the year in 2012. I still love it. It’s very Americana and as BM accurately captured, “It has universal appeal, never goes out of style, and is overwhelmingly chosen as a color favorite across North America. It evokes the sea and sky, physically clams us, and symbolizes trust and commitment.”

Friday Happy Hour: Michael S. Smith Penthouse
I’m slowly getting through my back issues of Architectural Digest, and despite some issues being over a year old, most of the designs are so timeless. Take for example, Michael S. Smith and his Manhattan penthouse in NYC. Magic.

Portfolio Peek: Pool & Patio
Sure there’s the lake, but nothing makes a lakehome even more perfect than an infinity pool. Now the family can not only swim, but grab a book and escape to one of the amazing porches. One relax on the rope day bed, while other can gently rock on the rocking chairs. We love the herringbone brick design on the deck too…

On the Job with C: The Intern
I’ve been trying to slow down a bit….so last week I snuck away with a friend (in the middle of the day!) and saw the movie The Intern. We have all fallen in love with pretty much every set Nancy Meyers has created, including one of the most requested kitchens from Something’s Gotta Give. This set did not disappoint either. In the kitchen, she embraced the up-to-date look with gray countertops, stainless steel appliances and that marble like synthetic countertop we all want. I love the open shelving too. Here’s a look….

Paint Ponder: Hazy Skies
“Paint everything one color — this elegant gray. It’s like a frothy latte. Not too dark, not too cold…just right,” reports Benjamin Dhong on Benjamin Moore Regal Classic Premium Hazy Skies OC-48. “It will add a little architectural gravitas to even the saddest cabinetry. And if it feels too restrained, bring in lemony yellow, blue, and white.” I’m loving it.

Friday Happy Hour: Bedroom Canopies
Dallas based designer, Jan Showers, does many things right. One of design elements she has defined perfected is the canopy. Always with the perfect drape of elegance, her bedroom canopies truly make a bedroom. Here are some of my favorites….

On the Job with C: Beautiful Master Closets
The kitchen and master bath does get you the most bang for your buck when it comes to resale, but what about the master closet? As Sex in the City’s Carrie Bradshaw once said, “I like my money where I can see it, hanging in my closet.” I can’t tell you how many times I have seen women swoon over beautiful closets. And while those nice slanted shoe racks and beautiful wallpaper may have cost a bit more than expected, all of my clients believe the daily trot into their new digs has been worth it. Here are a few that have stole the show…
