On the Job with C: Above the chest

Almost everyone has some type of table or chest against a wall that need to be developed.  Often times, we consider a piece of artwork, a mirror or shelves to add some drama.   It’s easy to get stuck in just considering one piece of art, but how about two, three or some other type of combo?  Here’s a look….

Friday Happy Hour: Checkerboard Entry

A checkerboard entry is far from farmhouse.  It makes a huge statement in these classic homes. Black and white tiles…alternating at an angle…stealing the show… while architectural elements work quietly in the background.  What a great look.  I’m intrigued, are you?

Portfolio Peek: Hawks Wood Entry

Our Hawks Wood clients requested some specials things from their old homes to be incorporated in their new abode.  While our clients make the perfect couple, they both have very different styles.  One is a bit more modern, while the other favors traditional furnishings.  We worked patiently to merge the two, all while selecting some transitional new favorites too.   This Steinway grand piano was happily located to the fab new entrance, along with a few new modern pieces to showcase it.

Friday Happy Hour: Entry Antlers

Every now and then, I get a client who says. “and we have to use THIS somewhere”.  It’s a set of antlers or an animal head looking for a prominent place in the home.  Sure the men’s office/study or even the game room might be a first pick, but don’t forget to consider the entry. Here are some great ways others have included them….

Paint Ponder: Cement Gray

Something borrowed,  something blue gray…how about this color?  Benjamin Moore’s Cement Gray 2112-60.  Looks perfectly framed with White Dove OC-17 trim and compliments marble nicely as well.    Soft, subtle but eye catching.

Friday Happy Hour: Monogrammed Wreath

I love switching out my wreaths on my double entry doors in Dallas.  It’s always fun mixing it up a little.  Since I love monograms on towels and linens, I pondered what it might look like on a wreath.  Here are some great ideas, including some easy to purchase ones on Etsy….

Friday Happy Hour: Round Entry Table

I love it when I get to work with a large entry to a home.  There is so much potential.  Often times we consider placing a round table in the plan.  There are lots of great ways to accessorize it and make someone feel welcomed.  Here are some inspiration photos to get you moving in the right direction:

Friday Happy Hour: Boxwoods

Summer is here and clients are starting to pay attention to their flowers and plants.  Last year, we had a huge mosquito problem here in Dallas causing many of my clients to reconsider the “real thing”.  Recently, we evaluated artificial boxwood for planters near a front entry and gracing the pool.  LDF Silk in Dallas has some great options.

Here’s some boxwood inspiration:
