Paint Ponder: Silver Strand

Joanna Gaines, of HGTV’s Texas based show called Fixer Upper, mentioned that one of her favorite paint colors is Sherwin Williams’s Silver Strand SW 7057.   A blue green gray, this color looks fantastic against white trim.  While she has used it in some of the projects she has “fixed”, she also used the color in her own home.  Take a look at this cool neutral at work….and don’t forget to check out her blog.

Paint Ponder: Stony Ground

I’m definitely considering this for an upcoming dining room makeover.  Farrow and Ball Stony Ground No. 211.  “This beige may be neutral, but I swear it has medicinal, calming qualities — and it doesn’t require a prescription! You’ll emerge refreshed, with the energy to keep moving and creating. Bring in burnt orange, dark gray, or indigo blue,”  says designer Erin Martin in SFGate.  I couldn’t agree more…

Paint Ponder: Silver Mist

Do I sense silver in our midst?  Sherwin Williams Silver Mist SW7621 adds a nice, soft calming effect to any room.  Try it in a bedroom, bathroom or anywhere you want to relax.  It’s perfect for the beach home too.  And if you want to see it perfectly done in a bedroom, check out my earlier post.

Friday Happy Hour: Neutral Living Room

The decorations are down and the tree is recycled.  2014 is here so how do you relax and best embrace it?  Sometimes it’s just best to pare things down and go neutral.  There is a sense of peace and happiness that comes from that.  So put away the crimson throw and go for something beige, gray or cream.  It might just be the thing you need to start your year off right.
