On the Job with C: Visual Comfort Paris Market Chandelier

I often get a calls from clients who just want a quick piece.  Many are preparing for the arrival of friends and family and either want help with a guest bedroom or a dining room.  Recently, we reworked a formal dining space and replaced an old fixture with the Visual Comfort Paris Flea Market Chandelier.  It has a warm gold hue and makes a stunning centerpiece in a room.  For those of you who don’t have access to a Visual Comfort vendor, you can also purchase it here at Horchow.

Friday Happy Hour: Spindle Chair

It’s little Jenny Lind, with turned posts of texture and style.  The Spindle Chair.  I love it.  It reminds me of days past but now has an updated look. Those little stacked balls on the arms, back and legs add so much character.    Here are some fantastic ways to purchase your own.

Friday Happy Hour: Opening Night of Thrift Studio

Last evening my neighbor and I attended the opening night of Dwell with Dignity’s Thrift Studio!  It was a night of fabulous drinks/appetizers, great finds at discount prices and the mingling of many of the area’s best designers, including honorary chair Jan Showers.  I scored a lacquered pink box, beautiful gold bird and a pair of malachite bookends.  SK took home a cute kids table and chairs designed by Todd Ficus.  It was a record breaking party with all the proceeds benefitting DWD.

Don’t worry if you missed it though!  Thrift Studio is now open to the public and will be running for the next 30 days.  New inventory will continue to be introduced, including some great finds from Mitchell Gold +Bob Williams and other generous supporters. Be sure to stop by:  Dallas Design Center 1250 Slocum Suite #380 in Dallas.  Hours are Tuesday – Saturday 10 AM – 5:30 PM.

{1} Coveted bird lamps, part of Cody Hutchenson’s vignette, sold immediately.  {2) Horchow designed the upper annex and which featured amazing discount lighting  {3} Neal Stewart’s vignette is beautiful, ran for the bench but it had sold before I got to it  {4}  Loved Sherry Hayslip’s vignette who really took it up a notch with the brick wall.

On the Job with C: Dwell with Dignity Thrift Studio

Along with my design job, my other part-time gig is as a volunteer for DWD.  Dwell with Dignity is a non-profit who help families struggling with homelessness and poverty get back on their feet by providing them a well-designed place.  One of their largest fundraisers is Thrift Studio which allows Dallas area fans to score great deals on furniture, accessories and more in arfully design vignettes.  This year, DWD is partnering with e-commerce home vendor One Kings Lane.  Design fans everywhere will have 72 hours starting on 10 AM Friday April 19th to peruse select products and items from the person collections of participating designers.

A VIP Preview Party take places tomorrow Thursday, April 19th at 7 PM and offers first dibs on furnishings from the likes of Horchow, IBB Design Fine Furnishings, Lucy Wrubel for Peacock Alley, Square Foot Studio, Studio Ten 25 and William-Christopher Design.  All proceeds will go to DWD. Here’s a look at the amazing vingette to be showcased this year:
