Paint Ponder: Black Fox

Even with the color black, a hue can go cool or warm.  Sherwin Williams’ Black Fox SW 7020 will definitely fit on the warm size.  It will bring a cozy feel to your den but at the same time look magnificent against white trim.  I also love it on the exteriors as a shutter color, similar to Tricorn Black.

Portfolio Peek: Hawks Wood Entry

Our Hawks Wood clients requested some specials things from their old homes to be incorporated in their new abode.  While our clients make the perfect couple, they both have very different styles.  One is a bit more modern, while the other favors traditional furnishings.  We worked patiently to merge the two, all while selecting some transitional new favorites too.   This Steinway grand piano was happily located to the fab new entrance, along with a few new modern pieces to showcase it.

Paint Ponder: Silver Strand

Joanna Gaines, of HGTV’s Texas based show called Fixer Upper, mentioned that one of her favorite paint colors is Sherwin Williams’s Silver Strand SW 7057.   A blue green gray, this color looks fantastic against white trim.  While she has used it in some of the projects she has “fixed”, she also used the color in her own home.  Take a look at this cool neutral at work….and don’t forget to check out her blog.

Portfolio Peek: Hawks Wood New Build

We finally have time to breathe and post a few photos of our new build in Hawks Wood.  It’s a beautiful home set on a large lush lot, with trees and a mack daddy pool.  Here are some photos of the exterior:

We love the clapboard ceiling and the cedar floor on the porch.  The stucco is a custom gray and the shutters are Sherwin Williams SW 6258 Tricorn Black.  Photos by my photographer Michael Hunter.

Paint Ponder: Red Tomato

Rated as one of the top colors for a foyer in House Beautiful, Sherwin Williams Red Tomato SW 6607 makes a statement.  “Like an invitation to a party, a foyer should pique your interest,” states designer Tobi Fairley who created a stunning room.  “So I want something that has tons of wow factor, and this tomato red with coral undertones feels exciting and also make people look good.  It gives you a warm, healthy glove.  The mirror wall doubles the drama and reflects the dark chocolate walls in the adjacent dining room”.  What do you think?

Paint Ponder: Wool Skein

I love this color on cabinets!  Sherwin Williams Wool Skein SW 6148.   I used it on my boys bathroom cabinets and it would look amazing in the kitchen.  It’s also a great neutral for a wall color and let’s not forget the exterior. This one is paired with SW Rock Bottom 7082 on the window panes. Love.

Paint Ponder: Silver Mist

Do I sense silver in our midst?  Sherwin Williams Silver Mist SW7621 adds a nice, soft calming effect to any room.  Try it in a bedroom, bathroom or anywhere you want to relax.  It’s perfect for the beach home too.  And if you want to see it perfectly done in a bedroom, check out my earlier post.

Paint Ponder: Worldly Gray

I want gray.  I want taupe.  I can’t decide.   Here’s a good in between.  Think of it as a taupe gray.  Sherwin Williams SW 7043 Worldly Gray.  It is like the color of putty or often the grout color you see between bricks. It’s the perfect combination if you can’t decide and really just need greige.

{1} Great also as a trim color {2} Love it on the back of a bookcase {3} Wall color works great with light and dark stains {4} And very restful in a bedroom
